Job Details:

MGO is growing and we need an experienced, motivated, and dedicated High Net Worth Tax Supervisor to join our growing HWW practice located in Century City, California. 

 

Under broad supervision, the Tax Supervisor performs advanced accounting functions related to tax specifications. Employees in this job class plan, budget and execute engagements and delegate work to lower level staff. This job class requires knowledge of intermediate accounting and/or tax principals of which would be derived from several years of experience as a Senior Associate and the ability to assign work, manage progress and meet deadlines. The Supervisor is responsible for utilizing research skills, applying tax foundational knowledge to understand potential tax issues, gathering client information necessary for filing, participating in tax planning, recognizing and communicating potential risks, preparing tax accrual workpapers and working with tax software applications to complete tax returns for review. 

 

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Leading Managing and Holding People Accountable (LMA)  
  • Learn and begin to apply growth process (participates in assigned RC,, pipeline support, COPs, etc.) 
  • Supervises the engagement (job) project management, billing, ensures QC (technical) standards 
  • Takes care of the client (meets deadlines, timely communication) 
  • Develops engagement team (prepares seniors to the next level)

  • Essential Functions: 
  • Prepare engagement work papers and returns for HNW clients (Estate, S-Corp, Gift, Trust, and Partnership returns) 
  • Research tax issues 
  • Recognize potential problems within engagements and discuss these with the manager or partner 
  • Prepare tax projections 
  • Prepare tax planning assignments 
  • Prepare other tax consulting projects, as needed 
  • Identify key issues facing clients and discuss possible solutions to increase quality and efficiency. 
  • Maintain a command of GAAP, GAAS, and any other common audit/tax techniques. 
  • Exhibit strong communications skills (verbal; written; presentation) with lower level associates, management/partners, and clients.  
  • Provide timely performance and behavior feedback to lower level associates via verbal discussions and/or evaluations. 
  • Communicate with manager regarding work-loads and project status 
  • Assist on other non-tax work in offseason such as financial statement compilations, reviews, and audits 

 

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • 3-4 years of tax experience in public accounting is required 
  • Experience preparing engagement work papers and tax returns for HNW clients (Estate, S-Corp, Gift, Trust, and Partnership returns) strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s in accounting required, Masters in Tax preferred 
  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting including bookkeeping and journal entry preparation required 
  • CPA License preferred 
  • Knowledge of CCH Prosystems is a plus

  • Must be able to keep client matters strictly confidential. 
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills.

Pay Range: $110,000 - $130,000
